Human first, therapist second.

That's my mantra. Because despite the years of school, training, and fancy letters behind my name - nothing has prepared me better to be an effective therapist and coach than a little thing called Life Itself.

I didn't always know what I wanted to do with my one wild and precious life. I just knew that I didn't want to be a passive spectator - I wanted to be "in the arena." After feeling unfulfilled for some time, I decided to leave a comfortable job in public relations so I could volunteer at an organization in Uganda that provides mental health care for refugees. I realized that I felt most alive when I was helping others heal from their psychological wounds. From there, I applied to graduate school and eventually earned my Master of Science in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach.

My life took another unexpected turn  when I made the heartbreaking decision to end an engagement that did not feel right for me. In doing so, I learned how it feels to disappoint the ones I love in the pursuit of my Truth. I learned that it is possible to grieve a future that was never lived. I learned that trusting myself can sometimes mean hurting others. And I learned (and am still learning) to forgive myself for that.

Do you ever hear that little voice inside of you that speaks your Truth? What is it telling you? Maybe it scares you. Maybe it thrills you. Maybe it's been silenced by years of listening to the voices of others who "know better" than you. If you're curious to really tune in, to really listen, then I'm the therapist and coach for you. Now let's get to work creating the life you were meant to live.
